This home was predominately occupied by a renowned Austin artist, Doug Jaques.  His work was widespread throughout the city, with murals on Guadalupe and in many buildings across Austin.  His work can still be seen in the underwater murals located at Esther’s Follies on 6th Street.

The home was divided into a studio section and a living section. When purchased, the home was in an advanced state of disrepair.  However, much of the art has been saved and restored, and can be found on the walls of the house. The renovation honors the art studio atmosphere of the home.
